Finding Home: Cambodia’s Prostitution Epidemic

The other day I was bored, browsing Netflix documentaries, when I came across the movie "Finding Home". Reading the description my interest was piqued. It was a documentary on prostitution in Cambodia. So I watched it. Even though it was a slow starter and could've used more refined editing, it moved and upset me.

Temple Runs, Crazy Tuk Tuk Drivers And The Spy That Wasn’t In Siem Reap

I met up my friend Haki at Bangkok's airport, to catch a flight to Siem Reap. I'd just arrived from Tokyo, while Haki arrived a couple of days earlier from Singapore. We became friends in the most random way, in a Kyoto train station when he asked for directions.

24 Hours In Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh is an interesting city. It challenges you to look past its dark history and to see it for what it is today, a city reborn from the ashes of destruction. Even if you only have a day to explore, you'll see that its present, past and future are very much intertwined.

You'll be knocked back by the chaotic activity in its streets, savor local Khmer dishes, marvel at the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda's beauty and mourn at the mass graves of countless victims who were savagely murdered by the Khmer Rouge.

Phnom Penh offers you a window into one of the darkest periods of modern history, rivaling (if not exceeding) the horrors of the Holocaust. Yet, its booming growth is proof that hope can't be killed.

This is my guide to Phnom Penh in 24 hours.
